Motherland Lullaby is a multimedia installation that includes a video on an LCD screen, a kinetic sculpture, readymade objects, and audio.
The video is a series of borrowed footage from war scenes, refugee children in camps, and ruins of war. The LCD screen is placed on a Persian bedspread. The audio is a composition of folklore Middle Eastern lullabies. The kinetic sculpture is a mobil made of laser-cut plexi and wood. The objects hanging from the mobil are inspired by Islamic/Persian flower motifs from Persian rugs and Islamic tiles and war icons.
